Peer Enrollment Coaching

Peer Enrollment Coaching is a student-centered support initiative that helps newly admitted college students navigate the often complex process of enrolling in their first semester at ECU. Peer enrollment coaches are trained upper-level students who offer personalized guidance, helping incoming students feel welcomed and confident as they transition into college life.

Key Features of Peer Enrollment Coaching

  • Personalized Enrollment Support: Peer enrollment coaches assist students with critical enrollment tasks such as course registration, orientation preparation, housing arrangements, and understanding financial aid. They tailor their guidance based on each student’s background and needs.
  • Barrier Identification and Resolution: Peer enrollment coaches proactively identify potential obstacles—like missing documents or system holds—and either help resolve them directly or escalate them to professional staff when necessary.
  • Connection to Campus Resources: PECs serve as a bridge to essential campus services, including academic advising, student health, financial aid, and campus living to ensure students are aware of and can access the support available to them.
  • Fostering a Sense of Belonging: By building rapport and sharing their own experiences, peer enrollment coaches help new students feel connected to the campus community, reducing feelings of isolation and increasing campus engagement.
