Success Learning Communities
Success Learning Communities (LC) are designed to help new students successfully transition to ECU. As a Success LC member, students receive services that may include academic and college life transition coaching, peer and professional academic success coaching, social and cultural activities, priority access to tutoring services, early success monitoring, enrollment in common classes, and learning assistance employment opportunities. Some Success Learning Communities are designed for special student populations.

What is the Student Success Learning Community for Freshmen?
The Success Learning Community is a year-long program that assists new freshmen in their transition to East Carolina University by providing peer and professional academic coaching, social activities, priority tutoring access, early success monitoring with ECU Connect, shared classes, and employment opportunities.

STEPP Program
The STEPP Program is a comprehensive academic success program serving college students with documented Specific Learning Disabilities (LD) such as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia. STEPP offers academic, social, and life skills support to a select number of motivated and committed students who demonstrate the potential to succeed in college. The STEPP Program fosters a network of opportunities and resources to empower and support students from admission to graduation from East Carolina University. STEPP students are admitted to the program prior to their senior year in high school and receive transition supports before enrolling at ECU, as well as intensive supports well beyond the services legally required at the university level.
